A New Elementary School for Southwest Denver Families
KIPP Sunshine Peak Elementary will open its doors to our founding class of students in Fall 2018. We will offer ECE-3, ECE-4, and Kindergarten in our first year, and grow one grade per year until we are fully enrolled with students from ECE-3 through fourth grade.
As KIPP Sunshine Peak Elementary, our work is grounded in our mission to provide an excellent and equitable education that teaches our children to be critical and creative problem solvers, lifelong learners, and activists who recognize and respond to injustice in their community and the world.
KIPP Colorado Schools has called the Southwest Denver community home for over 15 years. Our new elementary school and ECE program is the result of listening to the needs of current KIPP Colorado families and members of the Southwest Denver community, who have long voiced an interest in an elementary school for their students and a need for more high-quality seats in early childhood programs. We’re excited to join a legacy of success with our middle school and high school, KIPP Sunshine Peak Academy and KIPP Denver Collegiate High School!
KIPP Sunshine Peak Elementary has adopted a biliteracy model. Our goal is to promote and celebrate biliteracy, creating dual-language speakers, readers, and writers. Students receive half their instruction in Spanish and half in English, with differentiated, small group literacy instruction in their self-identified native language.
Our students live and learn in our school’s values of love, honor, inquiry, activism, and growth. We support all learners and celebrate the uniqueness of each of our students. As a Team and Family we will shine!
The KIPP Family Association at KSPE organizes events throughout the year for families. Events include a summer family social, a back to school bash, movie night, Día de los Muertos celebrations, picture me tomorrow, and more.
