One of KIPP’s core values is Team and Family. The KIPP Colorado Team and Family encompasses students and their families, our staff, and the communities we are a part of. Research shows that schools who engage families find that their students earn higher grades, score higher on tests, develop better social skills, and are more likely to persist to and through college graduation. Additionally, parents are the best advocates for their children, their schools and their community. KIPP Colorado Schools supports parents so that they can support their student’s academic and social growth.
Advocacy at the State Capitol, School District, and U.S. Capitol
Our KIPP Colorado Team & Family, including parents, students, and staff, stay informed on important issues and are active in advocating for policies and laws to improve the public education system and ensure all students have access to equitable high-quality public schools. We engage with our elected officials to ensure our voices are heard and build power through organizing.
KIPP Colorado Family Council
The voices of our families are essential to providing the best educational experience possible. The KIPP Colorado Family Council gives our students’ families the opportunity to be involved in the growth and success of KIPP Colorado Schools. The Family Council is a region-wide group of families representing all six of our schools. The Family Council meets monthly to discuss and take action on issues that impact our schools and our communities.

KIPP Colorado Parent Leadership and Community Organizing
At KIPP Colorado Schools, we believe family and community engagement is essential to achieving our mission of ensuring students have the knowledge and character strengths needed to succeed in college and in life. We work hand in hand with our communities, elected officials, and families to create a vision for the future that motivates and inspires. Our parent leaders meet regularly to discuss and take action on issues that impact our schools and our communities.
Parent leaders attend meetings with local community organizations and elected officials, provide public testimony on issues important to our schools and communities, plan community events, host house meetings and tours of schools.
Family Engagement Opportunities at the Schools
Family involvement is important to each of our schools. There are different ways to get involved and support our KIPPsters at each school, ranging from participating in Family Associations to Family Nights to Community Saturdays. For more information about how to get involved with one of our schools visit the school’s page or contact Gabriela Rodriguez at 720-724-3803.
